  • Back to Yorkshire

I have done work in the past few years for the NHS, who offer their staff a day out in Todmorden to ease their stress and, at the same time, guide them in a few areas to do with work. At the same time, they get to eat nice Thai food, plus hang out in a gorgeous town in the Calder Valley for a day, which to be honest would be what I would prefer over a day at the NHS in the current climate.

  • English Summer

I can’t believe it was the 19th of May that I returned to Blighty, it seems like an age since then.

I have done few of the things I had lined up for my return and many of the things I had not, for instance I have only been to one festival though I had lined up myself a good few more to attend, yet have been busy work-wise plus have been helping a fellow turn his pub into an art gallery.

  • May in a brightly crisp Blighty

There’s one thing I noticed about Cornwall is that the light is brighter. I thought it was my imagination until I was enlightened by a wonderful German fella called Chris who happens to be a photographer.

Chris said it’s because Cornwall is surrounded by sea, the water reflects light back at all angles in a way that you get such vivid light on the Greek islands, so whites are really white and blues radiate vibrancy. It also lifts the spirits but without you really knowing why, it’s just brighter.

  • Parrots in Streatham

I was missing the tropics so much that Streatham decided to chuck in a few parrots and voila, pretty polly here flew up into the branches above my head just by the Drewstead Road entrance to Tooting Common.

Apparently there are oodles of the critters around, I just don’t look up enough.

  • Back Again

I arrived back to London on the morning of the 14th of Feb with nothing but a short sleeved shirt to keep the British winter out. I took a few of the blankets from the plane and wrapped myself up on the journey home looking like Clint Eastwood in my Ozzie hat and blankets.

Its not long before I was back into work mode with my head down, raising my head above water to look around and wake for a moment.

I decided to go to Cornwall to shake off this desire to work and frolic in the spring waves.

  • Terminal 4

If the romance of travel is to be extinguished then Terminal 4 Heathrow is the extinguisher to do it with, but my imagination is strong enough to paint it with glamorous hostesses, the smell of aviation fuel and all of that malarkey. If there are any glamorous hostesses to be found here they are having a fag in the depressing smoking zone outside, where terminal staff huddle in the cold like lab animals waiting to be experimented on – bring back the appreciation of travel I say, perhaps even pop propellers back onto aircraft.

  • Buy to Let Why Don’t You

I posted this in the guardian in one of the blogs….

I remember a time when people KNEW it was immoral to make money off of the backs of other people, when we knew that making money off of the back of other peoples necessity was not good.

  • Bad Gypsy

Summer has meant too much roving and not enough writing so I’ll get busy over the next few weeks. I know the power of scribbling be it on a web journal or on a scrap of paper. So be it.

I actually attempted a post from the Big Green Gathering, but it was soon evident that my database had become corrupted by my moving my hosting account so it was not to be. Shame, I was in a tent in the middle of a field tapping away whilst drinking a cappuccino, which to my mind is pretty much the pinnacle of human achievement.

  • Online Photoshop

The whole idea of hosted programs that you access through a web browser is not a new one, but with google spearheading the offering such large on-line storage, combined with the kind of bandwidth we can use to move large files around we have the tools for the job.
