Glasshouse Mountains

When Captain Cook was sailing past Queensland on the 17th of May 1770, he noticed a number of mountains reminded him of the glass furnaces in Yorkshire where he came from, so he named them the glasshouse mountains.

The rain forest here is wonderful too up at the Mary Cairncross Scenic View, there are walks and lookout points that help to describe what you’re seeing, as well as a cafe where you can get the usual fine coffee, cake and pies that people love in Australia.

Down on the coast the water is wild and warm, surfing beaches with waves that have travelled many miles to me here.
